Linda Benda, Spirit Song Worshiper

I’m a home girl. Even though it’s in cold WI–it’s been home all my life. Same with church; born and raised Lutheran. I love my church back in WI: It’s Mission Statement, the Pastor, fellow members, it’s worship services and Bible studies.

This past winter brought Mike and I to Vistancia. We bought a home here and have become snowbirds. Back in January, I realized that I needed to make some friends so I wouldn’t get too homesick. I went to a Thursday morning women’s Bible study at Vistancia, and met Pastor Valerie and a great group of other ladies who were very friendly and easy to talk to!

That next Sunday, Mike and I attended Spirit Song’s worship service. Again, we received an outpouring of warm welcomes!

Believe me, I listened carefully to Pastor Valerie’s sermon, and took note of the whole worship service. I wasn’t going to “buy” into anything unless I was sure I was hearing God’s true and spoken Word of salvation through Christ.

From the first worship service and Bible study visit in January to now, I have been reassured by my Lord that I am hearing His Word. I knew for sure on Easter morning when Pastor Valerie said, “He is Risen”.

Not only am I hearing it, but it has more meaning to me than ever. I feel like I’ve been on a renewal retreat this winter. Getting away from my familiar surroundings, and same routines has helped me see that God is truly everywhere!

God willing, Mike and I will return next January. Thank you Arizona for the sunshine. Thank you Spirit Song for the Son-shine!

Parent, Hopekids

I just wanted to thank you so much for your time and efforts for this event. My daughter and son had a great time building something they can take home. I wanted to let you know the smiles did not end when the event was over. The look on my husband’s face when he got two tool boxes for Father’s Day was amazing. Thank you so much.

The Burt Family, HopeKids

Haley is 4 years old and going through chemotherapy for the second time. Noah is her strong supporting brother. Riley is 6 in September and she is a friend and a HopeKid child as well.

We thank you so much to take time out of your day to help shine happiness for these kids!

A big hug and Thank you!

Attending Spirit Song feels like being part of a large family.  The opportunity for fellowship and getting to know people more in depth is exciting. We enjoy being part of a wonderful group of Christian people coming together with the Holy Spirit.

The Moreno Family, HopeKids

I can’t express enough the blessing this event and you are to our family. It means so much to spend this time watching our boys using what God has blessed them with, the ability to think and build. Thank you to all the volunteers who come out monthly to give of their precious time for us! May the Lord richly bless you all and HopeKids in all your endeavors.

All my life I have had questions about religion.  I have had questions about the role of religion in the world.  I have had questions about my relationship with God.  I have had questions about the Bible and its teachings.  I have always been proud of the tradition of the Methodist church which allowed me to ask these questions but until Spirit Song I never felt I was getting any real answers.  I often felt I was being talked at, not talked to.  Spirit Song has changed all that. It is a place where my questions are answered. Spirit Song is a place where the comfort of traditional hymns exists side by side with the excitement of modern Christian music.  Spirit Song is a place where young and old learn from each other.  Spirit Song is a new church exploring the oldest questions.  Spirit Song is truly a place where you will be loved and accepted.

Thank you HopeKids, Nenos, Rhonda, and our very own volunteer Duane for the wonderful build event today! Austin loves his new wagon and uses it to move his lego men/women around the house. It was a great event for all of us! Thank you for all you do for us and our community!

Parent, Hope Kids Birdhouse Project

My kids (Nevaeh, Diego, n Itzary) and I wanted to say thank you for the birdhouse. They had a lot of fun. As soon as we got home they were so happy to put the house on the tree. Nevaeh wanted to put all kinds of stuff in there (little piece of blanket, food, a cup w/water so they could take a bath, etc…).

From our very first visit to Spirit Song, I knew this was the community for us.  Why? Because Spirit Song is just that – a community. It’s a place filled with a variety of personalities and different spiritual visions, yet everyone is welcoming and truly interested in your well being. I have never made so many friends so quickly. I had been looking for a spiritual community in which I fit in for close to 20 years. It has been a 20 year spiritual quest with many lapses. I thought I would never find a place where my questions where not only listen to, but encouraged, and where no one pretends to have all of the answers. When I walk out of Sunday Service I feel re-energized.  In and out of church, I look forward to spending time with all of my friends from Spirit Song.  My initial feelings about Spirit Song were reinforced after our second visit when my son age 5 looked at me and asked “When are we going back to that place where we are loved and accepted and our hurts are healed?” If you are looking for an accepting, supportive, and open community than Spirit Song will be a perfect fit for you and your family.
